D Jack Hillen was signed as a free agent on Tuesday out of Colorado College and made his NHL debut Thursday against the Rangers at Nassau Coliseum. In Friday's rematch at Madison Square Garden, the 22-year-old registered his first career point with an assist. "That was incredible," Hillen said of playing in the rivalry. "The crowd was amazing. I don't know any other adjective to say other than incredible." ... C Mike Comrie, who missed the final six games with a hip injury, led the Islanders in scoring with 49 points. That marked the first time in franchise history that the highest points total in an 82-game season was less than 50. ... The season is not over for some of the Islanders who skated Friday night. RW Blake Comeau, C Jeremy Colliton, RW Matt Keith, G Mike Morrison, C Frans Nielsen, RW Kyle Okposo, LW Kip Brennan and D Drew Fata are expected to dress Saturday night with Bridgeport of the American Hockey League for the team's final six games. st 04-05-08 3:29 et |
