The Minnesota Wild asked, and the fans responded. Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” will be the new goal song for the Wild beginning with their Sept. 27 preseason game against the Colorado Avalanche. This summer, the Wild sent an email to season ticket holders asking for their feedback about the potential change from Joe Satriani’s “Crowd Chant” to the classic Prince track.
Another day, another hire for the Las Vegas NHL franchise. On Tuesday, the team named Vaughn Karpan as its new director of player personnel. He most recently held the title of director of professional scouting with the Montreal Canadiens. Karpan joined the Habs in 2005, after spending 13 years with the Coyotes franchise, including five years as director of amateur scouting. This latest move comes after the Vegas franchise named Murray Craven as a senior vice president. Craven had been an advisor to owner Bill Foley during the process of getting an NHL team in Las Vegas and hiring a general manager. The Ottawa Senators and restricted free agent defenseman Cody Ceci have agreed to a two-year contract worth $5.6 million. The 22-year-old Ceci established career highs last season with 10 goals and 26 points along with a plus-9 rating in 19:18 of play. The Senators used the 15th overall pick in the 2012 draft on the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Ceci.
