With four wins in their last 18 games, with Ales Hemsky done for the season and netminder Nikolai Khabibulin out with a bad back, the Oilers are basically playing out the string.

Everything that can go wrong this season has for a 13th-place team that's also without Robert Nilsson (concussion), Taylor Chorney (ankle), Mike Comrie (mono), Denis Grebeshkov (knee), Fernando Pisani (colitis), Ryan Stone (knee) and Marc Pouliot (sports hernia).

And now they head out on a five-game road trip that begins Wednesday in Detroit.
