Goaltender Steve Mason is starting to rekindle memories of his Calder Trophy performance last season.

Mason had one of his best games so far this season on Saturday, stopping 24 shots in a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Jackets have earned points in Mason's last four starts, during which he has a 2.66 goals-against average and .927 save percentage.

A lot of the credit goes to goaltending coach Dave Rook, Mason said. The two have spent many hours behind the scenes working on the finer points of the position, such as glove positioning.

Mason's next start will be Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings, against whom he had a .930 save percentage last season.
