GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Coyotes have hired Dawn Braid as skating coach and say she is believed to be the first full-time female coach in NHL history. Braid has a long association with the NHL. She worked part-time for the Coyotes last year and has served as a skating consultant with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres and Calgary Flames. Braid also spent seven years with the Athletes Training Center as director of skating development. The Dallas Stars have bolstered their forward group by signing Jiri Hudler to a one-year, $2 million deal as first reported by Sonny Sachdeva on Tuesday night. Hudler, who will reunite with GM Jim Nill after their time in Detroit, posted 16 goals and 46 points in 72 games with the Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers last season. Ten of those 46 points came via the power play, which means the Stars’ fourth-ranked power play just got even better.
Canada selected Jay Bouwmeester to replace Duncan Keith on its roster for the World Cup of Hockey. Keith is still rehabbing a right knee injury he suffered last season, the Chicago Blackhawks said.
