Even Ondrej Pavelec, who has been one of Atlanta's best players through the first month of the season, is bound to have an off night.

But against the Islanders on Saturday night, Atlanta's young goalie had plenty of company in that category. Most of the Thrashers slept through the first period, a common trend in each of Atlanta's losses this season, and Atlanta was outshot 21-11.

Pavelec allowed four goals in the first period, but only one of them should be considered his fault. The Thrashers allowed too much traffic in front of him, weren't physical enough in their own zone and had too many players not willing to pay a price to win battles for loose pucks.

When you put all of that together, Atlanta didn't stand much of a chance against the Islanders.

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled center Jason Krog from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. The team looks to add depth Tuesday, one day after announcing Ilya Kovalchuk would be sidelined for about a month with broken bone in his right foot. The 34-year-old Krog had four points in 14 games with the Thrashers in the 2006-07 season and has played with four other NHL teams.
