The Atlanta Thrashers have been trying to work out a contract extension with Ilya Kovalchuk(notes) since early in the season but things hit a few bumps in recent weeks What was the problem? Kovalchuk's price tag.
The Boston Globe is reporting that Kovalchuk's agent has told Thrashers GM Don Waddell that his client wants $100 million for 10 more years of work. The Russian winger, who was just named to his home country's Olympic team, apparently wants most of the dough to be on the front end of the deal.
