Dallas Stars co-general manager Les Jackson told the Dallas Morning News the rumored deal that would send Dallas goalie Marty Turco to the Tampa Bay Lighting for Martin St. Louis is nothing but talk.

Jackson said he has not had talks with trading Marty Turco to anyone for anything.

``I am not interested in trading Marty Turco. That's just the way I feel,'' he said

Would be sad to see Turco go, but if St Louis is the answer to Dallas' problems then it should be looked at. Just remember though that San Jose got rid of a really good G in Toskala and now are concerned about having all their eggs in one basket with Nabby.

I agree Smith is better when he is in goal he stands upright and covers both the top and bottom of the net.
Everyone in the league knows that Turco flops and turns his back to the play when he sprawls out on the ice. Therefore, leaving the upper part of the net open which is why they all try to shoot high

Smith is not better. Keep Turco, buff up on offense. The Stars rely way too much on defense.

I'm a season ticket holder and I hate it when Turco is in goal. I don't think his heart is in it. Do you remember how good he was before the last Olympic tryouts and when he was negotiating a new contract? He was incredible and showed me that he could be a cup winning goalie. I would rather have a less talented goalie who gave 100% than Turco's 80%.

turco, if traded, does not want to be a backup. That rules out st.louis, because legace is playing great, and san jose, cuz nabokov is amazing. Teams that would want him are tampa, or atlanta. He could possibly go to ottowa, philli, or nashville.

the leafs are looking for a full time knowledgeable gm... reading the comments above, there are a ton of brilliant people out there who know hockey better than les jackson . i would think hes a little closer to the situation than the experts who offer their advice. if turco goes, the stars are in deep trouble

if dallas trades turco to tampa then it has to be for lecavalier, richards, or two players like prospal and boyle. I don't see it happening. Dallas' offense is actually reliable. Perhaps, they should look for effective roleplayers then see who is available in the offseason. If anything, trade Modano to Ottawa for Vermette and Fisher.

it wont be turco whos traded, if anything it would be someone like halpern or name just about anyone (under 30) from our defensive group that would go first .. then theres Mo I really wouldnt want to see him go but sometimes a change can do a player a lot of good.

Jonads are you crazy?!? Tampa is thinking salary dump, but they want SOMETHING in return, not a fish flopping on the ice. Richards for turco is the only option feaster might agree to (but then again the salaries are about even which is not what tampa wants), and if les agreed to that then he's dumber the the Flyers front office (which is saying alot). Tampa will not trade vinny unless its one hella package including picks (i.e. 1st round) and 1-2 top young talents (like Malkin type talent not ECHL talent).

find a team with a losing record, an old but not golden goalie, and one offensive playmaker that is itching to make a cup run, and you'll get a trade.
trade away smith and daley for sure, because i am sick of seeing daley screw things up around here, and maybe throw in either another defenseman or a draft pick or maybe someone like halpern or barch and get someone who knows how to put the puck in the net. modano used to know how, but now all he does is pass the puck away when he could shoot it himself, so you've got to give him someone to pass it to.

TD558 I'm with you all the way on that one! Turco is paid to much for average play. Its all about the playoffs and we know what he's done there!

I believe that this Stars team is effective and solid. Pursuing a trade that would probably cost too much just reminds me of the Nagy deal last year. This team is not desperate and should hold on to the assets it has. Lehtinen, Boucher and Zubov will all return in time for the post-season. I'm not worried at all about this team.

your crazy!!!! yes, trading daley might help. but, when you have young guys on defense then you'll have mistakes. Trading barch your insane trading a player that will stick up for a teammate. And halpern he's a solid defensive forward for the star's fourth line. And Smith is just young, they were saying the same thing about turco when turco was backing up the eagle. so my suggestion is go get someone to play with mighty mo.

yes but you have to give up something to get someone to play with mo. barch is not a highly touted player. he gets in fights and really thats about it and im sure we can find plenty of people already on the team (steve ott, brad winchester, brenden morrow) that will stick up for a teammate. this isn't about sticking up for your team of playing defense. its about winning. and barch and daley don't help. the only reason i put halpern is because you're not going to drop mo or ribeiro and you have to give up something good to get something good in return.
and i still say smith is too tall to be effective.

you have to give good defense to a team without defense to get them to give away some good offense.
so what? we lose daley? who cares? fistric is better than daley and he is a rookie. when zubov comes back i get rid of daley and keep fistric.
and like i said...barch isn't worth keeping if you can package him into a deal to bring a high power goal scorer to play along side modano

okay, i understand your position and fistric is good. you say get rid of barch because all he does is fight. try this why not get rid of ott.
So would you go after a guy like Scott gomez in New York or One of the staal's
