Steve Stamkos has been in the NHL for only three seasons, but he's scored 119 goals and notched 113 assists in that time. Now he and the Tampa Bay Lightning are trying to work out a new contract and it doesn't appear to be going well, according to SportsNet.
The 21-year-old who was drafted first overall by the Lightning in 2008 is in negotiations with the club for a deal and the two sides are not close, SportsNet reports.
If a deal cannot get signed by Friday, Stamkos will be a restricted free agent. The Philadelphia Daily News reports that the Philadelphia Flyers are planning to make a run at Stamkos if he's still available at the start of July.Find out before your friends.
