Patrick Roy robbed thousands of NHL superstars through his glorious 17-year career tending the net for the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche.
Without even trying, the masked man has committed grand theft yet again this week in Montreal, stealing headlines in the sports pages during Grey Cup Week.
Yes, it's true. Le Journal De Montreal dedicated the first three pages of Thursday's sports section to the return of the prodigal son. Roy's No. 33 jersey is to float to the rafters Saturday at the Bell Centre.
The next six pages centre around the modern-day Canadiens and the NHL. Coverage of Sunday's Grey Cup — a game featuring the hometown Alouettes and the Calgary Stampeders — kicked off on the 10th page.
"The Canadiens have an 84-game season with 42 games a home, Als guard Paul Lambert lamented Thursday at the Als' media breakfast. "They could have picked a different weekend to do it."

Roy quit on his team when things became tough.

Roy is at the top of the goalie list, but he will be passed by Brodeur before he retires. But until that time, even as a Bruins fan, I can admit Roy is the best of all time.

Start with Habs to end of NHL career... or start with Habs to date he walked out on them?
Either way, if I were a Habs fan, looking at that banner would be a negative.
Seems to me, Montreal is attempting to grasp at anything to illustrate to the world how "great they were/are".
I feel that recognition of career greatness is a hall of fame thing, and any team raising a banner to a player who walked out on them is a false pride thing.
That banner is a tribute to a great player... who insulted them!

dont get me wrong hes a good goalie, but if he woulda concentrated on stopping the puck instead of trying to clobber everyone around him and showing off, then he woulda been better
my opinion, not yours
