When the trade deadline rolled around, it was understood that soon-to-be free agent Gary Roberts planned to play next season in Ottawa or Toronto so he could remain close to his family.
The Pittsburgh Penguins gambled anyway, and now it appears that Roberts is open to the idea of staying in the Steel City. "He's open to coming back," general manager Ray Shero said. "I don't think that was really on his radar on trade day."
