Booed mercilessly by the Air Canada Centre faithful, winless since Nov.9, nailed to the bench since Feb.5, Andrew Raycroft — remember him? — starts Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres according to the Toronto Star.
His pride hurt, but his dignity intact, the long-suffering backup can't wait to show what he can do.
"I don't want it to feel like a charity case," said Raycroft. "I played a lot of NHL games, I've won a lot of NHL games. I have as much pride, if not more, than anyone else in here right now. I'm going to want to go out and do well for myself and for the guys in here. It doesn't matter whether you play once a month or once every four months or once every two days, you go out and try hard and try to stop the puck every time."
