New York Rangers alternate captain Vaclav Prospal has been out, recovering from Oct. 18 knee surgery.

Rangers coach John Tortorella says Prospal will be back on the ice in mid- to late December, according to Newsday.

The 35-year-old Czech left wing has been in the league since coming up with the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1996-97 season, scoring 15 points in 18 games. This is his second season with the Rangers, for whom he scored 20 goals and notched 38 assists last season.
