What the Sharks are asked to do — win a series after hurling away the first two games at home — is not without precedent. There's Carolina over Montreal in 2006 ... Tampa Bay over Washington in 2003 ... Detroit over Vancouver in 2002 ... But you'd be a certifiable plum tart to bet that way wrote San Francisco Chronicle columnist Ray Ratto.

Brad Richards, Mike Ribeiro, Mike Modano, Marty Turco and most of the Dallas Stars put a sharp knee into the nethers of San Jose's Stanley Cup dreams Sunday night. Put another way, the Sharks were semi, and the Stars final. Dallas crushed San Jose in the third period at every level, most notably the four goals that turned a Sharks lead into a drab joke.

True, you still can hope. There's Philadelphia over Pittsburgh in 2000 ... and Colorado over Detroit in 1999 ... and Pittsburgh over Washington in 1996 ... But the truth is that games like this are why the Sharks' character is so often questioned.

There is still a lot of hockey to play and the Sharks are regarded as the best road team in the NHL. I hope the Stars can split the next two games. Would be great if they can sweep but I don't think that will happen. All in all I'm proud of the Stars and the way they have played patient and relentless hockey. They seem to get stronger and stronger as the game goes on while most teams come out with a lot of fire and then fade towards the end. Should be an exciting series against the Sharks. GO STARS!!!!!!!

Wow, crow is a terrible thing to eat. Congratulations to the Stars, and thier fans. A well deserved win. If the Sharks keep playing like this, they/d betters tart shining up the clubs. It isn't that they have played really bad, but that the Stars are really shining when they have an opportunity. The Sharks are leading in every catergory except the one that means the most. I hope the law of averages comes into play, or maybe the Stars are that good. My hat is off (again) to the Boys of D. But I know the Sharks can and WILL come back. They have to decide that they want it more. Can't wait til tues........GO SHARKS

Dallas is playing excellent team hockey and they are being patient. The penalty kills were very good last night and the rookies are all playing really well together. Zubov's return is a huge boost for this team. I hope they can split the two games in Dallas and then finish it off at the Shark Tank.

I'm a San Francisco resident who notices that the San Francisco Chronicle is always so pessimistic when they write about the Sharks. It annoys me. While I'm a downtrodden Sharks fan at the moment, I can't help but hope that we can turn it around in Dallas. Go Sharks!

Apparently Gil is under the impression that if someone crashes into you on the ice you are not supposed to fall over.

Gil- you should start looking at your own net minder instead of Marty (Conne Smythe) Turco. Where has the Vezina finalist been? I'll tell you...running around his crease like a high school player trying to find the puck. Turco has been nothing but a stone wall. Give respect where it is due. You could also start looking at the rest of the team. Where's the "newly rejuvenated" JR now? That was short lived. Cheecho? Thornton? Marleau? The stone wall is in there heads is what I say.
    SWEEP.

#14: Would be nice to see the Stars sweep the Sharks out of the playoffs but it is going to be extremely hard to do. I'll settle for a split on home ice and then finish them off in the Shark Tank.

Turco stopped 29 or 31 shots last night. Some of them were very close where the Stars defense came thru. Your team can't score more than 2 goals against him well then atleast tell your goalie to limit the number of goals he gives up. Naw that can't be the reason. Why is Turco stopping those shots, He should just stand aside and let the Sharks score at will. Blame your own team for losing the first 2 games on home ice. They let the Stars hang around and paid the price for their lack of motivation and drive.

Gman-I agree it will be tough to sweep, but as a Stars fan I accept nothing but the best from my team, unlike the minnow fans. No excuses...I know they can do it.
If it has to go back to SJ then, as Gil put it, it would be "priceless" to finish it on our other home ice. Don't you think?

Gil, go read your posts. All your posts have one common vein, Turco. I wonder if you would be calling Turco a POS if he was in a sharks uniform. Everyone wants to whine about how awful the opposing players are. Turco is merely making a play to help his team out. You may find it distasteful but he has not broken any rules nor have the refs called him at any time for dislodged nets. The nets being dislodged is a common thing when you have lots of traffic in your crease. We saw the same crappy argument in the Anaheim series where guys were comming in and trying to take Turco's head off. The guy falls down the net dislodges. Would you like it if the nets were nailed to the ice so that it could not come loose?

San jose STARS - it would be sweet to get a sweep and put the Sharks out of their misery. Like the Anaheim fans the Shark fans are going to be whining about this for years to come. Whining about how Marty Turco is a punk and a dirty player, all because he happens to be doing his job a lot better than their goalies.

LOL, sj Stars fan. you missed the point but were actually making it (DOUBLE PRICELESS) I was saying that the stupidity of the Stars fans isn't buyable, it must be in-bred or something. Anyway, Thanks for re-confirming. Ha Ha HAHA HAHAHA

Gman- Agreed. SJ fans were the same way about The Eagle. When Eddie stoned them, as he did on most occassions, they would hack on him...and they still do.
Anyway, I see it as nothing but excuses for the dilemma they're in...and since MT is the focal point to their scoring whoes, he is the logical target.
It is so sweet to see Mike M, Mike R, and now Zubie toying with them on the ice......look out Detroit.

You guys should leave Gil alone, seems like he is the only shark fan willing to come to the table after watching his team outplay an opponent but still loose not just once but twice. Game two was a better performance than one but the Stars will not Sweep playing like this unless Turco keeps standing on his head.
One thing Gil, you’re complaining about Turco knocking the Net off, but it was your team that was crashing the net AS YOUR COACH HAD INSTRUCTED. Yes I read that stupid "Rumor" yesterday. Guess that didn't work.
Where oh where is WAlliam K. You had so much trash to say yesterday and i know you are reading this. just wanted to say hello.

Mike R was stellar last night. The guy honestly has the puck glued to his stick. Never seen a player with that kind of puck control. That first goal was just sick.
Gil, it seems has gone off the deep end.

Terrible first couple games. Something not pointed out in this whole string is the fact the Daily knocked the net off in the first period and didn't get called for it, then a make up call for holding on Rivet gave the Stars a power play that they capatilized on gave them the lead. I know this souonds like a crying Sharks fan but facts are facts (and I'm not even mentioning the numerous cross checks in the crease that seem to be the only way Dallas knows how to defend). On another note the Sharks should be blamed for the loses on there own. Poor show of resilience after getting punched in the mouth. If Joe Thornton doesn't start to outplay Morrow than I don't see this series making it back to San Jose.
All in all though if Hockey doesn't change the way they officiate in the playoffs than it will continue to be a thrid rate sport in America. On top of that even if the penalties did get called San Jose wasn't making Dallas pay on the power play they need to start paying the price and go to the net in numbers. There penalty kill needs to get better and maybe the best way for that to happen is to sit Grier he has been an orange road cone on the ice and needs to learn to move his feet again.

Nutscum huh, never mind fellow Star fans, this guy is a D!ck. Let me just say Gil you are blaming all the wrong people for your teams misfortunes. Unfortunately your team has no imagination when trying to score and looks pretty predictable. If your team was up two games i am sure you would not have any problems with Turco. As I said before Stars in 5. kind of looks like 4 now though.

I'm not a Stars fan but I just thought it would be a good time to ask a question. What happened to all those people that were calling Turco a choke artist a couple months ago on this very site? He gave his team a chance last year but didn't have the offensive support...now unless they have a major collapse they are going to the final 4. As I haven't heard this claim for a while I'm guessing he's prvoing those who held to that opinion to be wrong. Personally, I'd rather see the Sharks win but the guys deserves some respect...even if has been stealing candy from a baby and cheating at solitary. Although...if he purposely throwing hands of fish wouldn't that make him a a prime suspect for investigating the corruption in the children's gaming world...any bets on the mafia being involved? :)

Davie boy, I am not blaming any one. Except the Sharks. They lost, But I am saying Trucko dislodged the net, stops momentum, IF the Sharks had any, but by Truckos' actions, he makes sure there is none. The Stars SHINED when they had a chance. I don't really like saying that again, kind of a sour feeling, but the Sharks didn't step up when they needed to. They are coming to the Flop palace, are going to kick some Dallas butt and dim the Stars dreams til there ain't nothing but ashes. GOOOOOO SHAAARRRRKS!!!
