NHL - Sports Rumors

“ChrisNHL legend Chris Chelios(notes) has been trying to get any NHL team to at least take a look at him. It appears his wish has been granted.

The Phoenix Coyotes will apparently send general manager Don Maloney to San Antonio this Friday to watch Chelios play with his current team, the Chicago Wolves, according to the Toronto Sun.

The 47-year-old defenseman would love to return to the NHL. "He's there, he's savvy and he's in great shape," Maloney said. "(But) I don't know. The pace of the NHL game is so quick."

No conversations have apparently taken place between Chelios and the Coyotes as of yet.

One should know when to retire. i mean a player of his skill and history gets but on a minor team because no NHL team wants him, i would tell myself maybe its time to hang up my skates. But thats just my opinion.

I cannot believe what a joke the Canadian teams are this season, besides Calgary. I watched the Toronto game last night and thought it was a minor league team with the Leafs sweaters on.

I would take a smart player like him over some wet behind the ear kid who has tons of speed but no idea where he should be on the ice.

Time to retire? I dunno, he is still playing pro hockey at a level just below the NHL, alot of guys would kill just to be doing that. As long as he is enjoying himself, he should do whatever he likes.
