There had been a lot of rumors that the next NHL Winter Classic would be held at the new Yankee Stadium next season. But now word has slipped out that the very popular outdoor game could be played in Washington, D.C., at the home of the Washington Nationals, according to the Boston Globe.
Boston Red Sox owner John Henry says he hopes the Fenway playing field recovers following the installation of an ice rink this winter for a game between the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers. But you can be sure the team will reap the benefits of the good feeling it brought to every single Bostonian who skated there during the open public skates as well as all the prep school and amateur hockey teams that got to take to the ice as well.
May D.C. do the same kind of thing if it gets the game next year.
