Fifteen months after the Panthers traded away star goalie Roberto Luongo, the team's coach who approved the deal and the captain say it could be the worst trade in NHL history. Luongo is now a member of the Vancouver Canucks.
Told Thursday that a published report said coach and General Manager Jacques Martin considered that trade the worst trade ever, captain Olli Jokinen smiled.
"Probably. As far as this franchise, yes," Jokinen said. "It was shocking. It was a bad move."

Luongo deal definitely top 5 worst of all time (Where are Todd Bertuzzi and Alex Auld now? ;) And Krajicek is still here in Vancouver as 4th d-man) but the scary thing is the Lindros deal DIDN'T involve Mike Milbury.
Keenan's ego in the power struggle won out as did my Canucks!

But had the NYR-QUE deal gone through that would definately been the worst, or fairly close

An honorary mention also goes to Pat Quinn for this trade........ March 5, 1991 - STL trades Cliff Ronning, Geoff Courtnall, Robert Dirk, Sergio Momesso and a 5th round draft pick (Brian Loney) to VAN in exchange for Garth Butcher and Dan Quinn. Canucks would take this crew to a 1 goal loss in game 7 of the Stanley Cup final 3 short years later.
