New York Islanders left wing Matt Moulson(notes) had four goals in the team's 5-4 win over the Dallas Stars Saturday night, helping the Atlantic Division's last-place team gain its eighth win of the season.
However, "Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro(notes) left after two periods because of a groin injury," according to the Associated Press, and was replaced by Al Montoya(notes), who held the Stars scoreless.
Newsday DiPietro listed as day-to-day. The 30-year-old, who was the first overall pick in the 2000 draft and made his debut in the NHL that year, will be evaluated further Monday.
DiPietro has gone 3-2-3 this season with an .876 save percentage and 3.73 goals against average. Montoya, a third-year pro, is 4-3-2 with a .931 save percentage and 2.17 goals against.
