Forsberg may still return to NHL

“PeterJust before the NHLseason started, Peter Forsberg(notes) managed to get a stress fracture in his right foot while playing in Europe and his chances of returning to North America seemed totally dashed. The word was that he wouldn't be able to play in anymore games in Europe after that point unless he wanted to give up any chance of coming back to the NHL this season.

Well, Forsberg is reportedly all healed up and getting ready to play in a tournament for Sweden that won't count against his NHL eligibility, according o the Denver Post. A slew of scouts will undoubtedly be on hand to see if Forsberg still has it.

The four-team Karjala Cup runs from November 5-8 and has Finland, Russia, and the Czech Republic competing against Sweden. Forsberg is expected to decide after that if he really wants to actually play in the NHL this season or not. Some strong offers might help him make his decision, of course.

The Brett Farve of hockey. Please just hang them up. Sadly, he could of been one of the greatest all time players if he could of stayed healthy.

What's holding his feet together at this point? He needs to start thinking about being able to walk after he eventually retires.

Hey avsryule, I know the air in Denver is thin, just like your intelligence. If you look at it, every year Forsberg says he's not coming back, then a few weeks later a story pops up stating he's thinking of coming back. Their both egomaniacs that can't stand to be out of the limelight. As for the Profiler, next time you goaltend make sure you wear a mask. It's obvious you've been hit in the head too many times with a puck

Will Forsberg just let this go already? What more does he have to prove? Hes been on a team that has won the Cup a couple of times, I think he is the highest scoring player for the country he is from (Sweden I think) and has come back from a serious injury....there is nothing left to prove! We get it that hes a "tough guy" and still wants to play, hell retired hickey players still want to play, however they had the good sense to hang it up when they did.

first of all. Facre is playing amazing. You just don't like him because he isn't on your team. Second forsberg is still a really good player. If he does come back he will sign a cheap contract for one year. He still has more hockey in him if he can just fix his feet

ok first off brett frave was going in between not plaing and playing peter never said hes not going to play he always wanted to play... now matts sundin was the brett frave of hockey.... peter still has it as his 4 points in three games proves it as does his Points Per Game average in his last stint with the avs even at 80 percent hes better then most players a few teams ome to mind who need him... nashville, both florida teams... but the maple leafs or islanders need him the most.. and he can guide some of the youngsters for the islanders as well

Don't say Peter Forsberg couldn't be team MVP for the Leafs, because you'd be wrong. Why don't half of the Red Wings players hang it up? They're older and not even half as good as Forsberg, despite being in full health. The "it's getting old" argument is just so mind-boggingly stupid.

All the forsberg haters are dumb. He is still one of the best players in the league. The season after the AVE's won their last cup he missed the entire regular season that year and came back to be the leading scorer in the playoffs. He shakes off rust faster than anyone because he's just that good. He's at worst a point per game player. Thats way better than most. Why would a player who still has it quit. He never said anything about retiring, he just wants to make sure that he's healthy enough to play at his high level. He would help any team in the NHL win the cup. The greatest thing about him is that he's clutch in the playoffs. I hope he comes back!!!!

Ya know what you'd have a pretty good squad if you could assemble a team of over the last 5 years of guys that either should have or did retire and came out within that period.
1st line... (Forwards) Fleury Sundin Foresberg (D) Chelios Berard
2nd line... (Forwards) Shannahan G. Roberts Selanne
    3rd line... (F's) C. Lemieux Linden Leclair
    Goalie... Brodeur Roy
Eh little weak on D but what the hell...they should be good for at least 10-15 wins over the course of a season.
