It was at the 6:12 mark of the third period Tuesday night that many fans of the Boston Bruins thought they say their Stanley Cup changes skate off the ice with Marc Savard(notes) and his right knee injury.
However, the Boston Globe reported the injury is not serious and Savard will be able to play in Game 7, Thurdsay. Boston coach Claude Julien said he sent Savard to the dressing room as a precaution.
"He'll be fine for the next game," Julien said.
The Bruins could hardly afford to lose Savard, who scored last night's game-winning goal. Savard was injured during a power play to open the third period when he had a knee-on-knee collision with Carolina forward Chad LaRose(notes). Savard remained down for several moments before he skated to the bench with assistance from Patrice Bergeron(notes) and trainer Don DelNegro. He took two more shifts before leaving for good, according to the Globe.
Savard (6-6 -12) is tied with Michael Ryder(notes) (5-7 -12) as the Bruins' leading scorer in the playoffs.
