NHL - Scoop Du Jour

The Chicago Blackhawks may be making a trade soon with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks that would bring back former Blackhawk fan favorite James Wisniewski(notes), according to the Daily Herald.

The Ducks may end up with 23-year-old Cam Barker(notes) in the deal. Defenseman Wisniewski is making $2.75 million this season and will become a restricted free agent this summer. So his salary is going to jump up pretty dramatically this offseason, perhaps to $4 million or so. So this would just be a short-term deal for the Hawks. But it would clear out the $3.1 million Barker is due for the next two years.

Defenseman Barker was once called the "next Denis Potvin" by former Hawks GM Dale Tallon. Obviously, he hasn't quite lived up to that just yet.

The San Jose Sharks may be trying to get the 25-year-old Wisniewski as well.
