QUEBEC CITY (AP)—Brian Gionta(notes) and Scott Gomez(notes) scored for the Montreal Canadiens, who wrapped up a poor preseason with a 5-1 rout of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.
The Canadiens finished a 1-6 preseason and rebounded from a 4-0 loss to the Lightning earlier this week. Mathieu Darche(notes), Erik Cole(notes) and Michael Cammalleri(notes) had the other goals for Montreal.
Vincent Lecavalier(notes) scored the only goal for the Lightning, who were outshot 32-19.
Tampa Bay might be without forward Ryan Malone(notes) for a while because of a hit he delivered to the head of defenseman Chris Campoli(notes) in the third period. Malone had been involved in several earlier skirmishes and now is at risk for further punishment from NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan(notes).
Campoli was forced out the game, just the second he has played since signing with the Canadiens.
