Havlat scores in OT for Wild
Havlat scored at 3:15 of overtime to give the Minnesota Wild to a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday night.
“We played hard for 60 minutes, or 65,” Havlat said. “I don’t know how many we played, but everybody did a great job. … We started very good. I think tonight we just kept it going until the last second. I think we played one of the best games we have played so far this year.”
Kiprusoff had a spectacular game, stopping 44 of 46 shots he faced to help the Flames earn a point.
“It’s a shame to waste a performance like that,” Calgary assistant coach Dave Lowry said. “He gave us every opportunity to win.”
The Wild carried the majority of the play in the first period, outshooting the Flames 19-3. Kiprusoff turned aside three shots each by Wild forwards Mikko Koivu(notes) and Guillaume Latendresse(notes) and defenseman Kim Johnsson(notes).
