Tim Connolly snaps third-period tie, nets winner for Buffalo in victory over Pittsburgh
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Tim Connolly broke a third-period tie, and Derek Roy and Dmitri Kalinin had a goal and an assist each to lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night in the preseason finale for both teams.
Connolly scored the winner with just under 6 minutes left, knocking a rebound past goalie Marc-Andre Fleury after Fleury stopped Kalinin’s shot from the left circle.
Jason Pominville also scored for the Sabres (4-2).
Roy entered with a NHL-leading 11 preseason points, and finished with 12 points in his last three preseason games.
Sabres goalie Ryan Miller made 14 saves.
Connolly and Kalinin, who have been bothered by groin injuries, both played in the preseason for the first time.
