St. Louis 7, Calgary 2

Preview | Box Score | Recap

ST. LOUIS (TICKER) Pavol Demitra did not make Roman Turek feel welcome in the goaltender’s return to his old stomping ground.

Demitra scored three goals and assisted on another and former Flame Cory Stillman tallied twice as the St. Louis Blues routed Calgary, 7-2.

Entering the game with seven goals and 10 assists in 20 career games against the Flames, Demitra scored twice in the first period and completed his third career hat trick midway through the second. Demitra also assisted on Stillman’s first tally for a season-high four points.

Acquired from Calgary in March 2001 for Craig Conroy, the 28-year-old Stillman gave the Blues a 3-1 lead 71 seconds into the second period and capped the scoring with 2:22 remaining in the third.

Turek, who was traded to the Flames by the Blues after the 2000-01 season, was victimized for five goals on 16 shots before being replaced by Jamie McLennan after Demitra’s third tally. The 32-year-old Czech returned for the third period, allowing one goal while making four saves.

Tom Barrasso stopped nine of 10 shots he faced in the first period before leaving the game with a strained neck. Fred Brathwaite, who came to the Blues as part of the Turek deal, turned aside 14 shots over two periods to gain the victory.
