SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA (TICKER) —The Detroit Red Wings try to sweep the San Jose Sharks and remain atop the Western Conference standings when they face off on Thursday at the HP Pavilion.

Detroit, which is 18-2-0-1 in its last 21 games, is tied with Dallas in the West with 102 points, but the Red Wings have six games remaining and the Stars just five. The teams tied in each of their four games this season. Dallas visits Calgary on Thursday.

The Red Wings avenged a 4-0 loss at Minnesota on Sunday with a 4-0 triumph at home over the Wild on Tuesday.

Curtis Joseph made 18 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and 40th of his career.

Igor Larionov had one goal and two assists, Tomas Holmstrom one and one and Sergei Fedorov and rookie Henrik Zetterberg also scored in the win.

The Red Wings beat the Sharks here on October 10, 6-3, and won a pair of one-goal decisions in Detroit.

San Jose, which won the Pacific Division last season but will not make the playoffs this campaign, fell to 3-7-0-3 in March with a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Monday.

Patrick Marleau scored the only goal for the Sharks, who are 1-1-0-1 on their five-game homestand.
