NEW YORK (TICKER) —The New York Rangers continue a five-game homestand Saturday night when they host the Florida Panthers.

The Rangers are four points behind Boston for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and are trying to avoid missing postseason for an unprecedented sixth straight season.

New York is 3-1-1 over its last five games and 5-3-1 since re-acquiring Alexei Kovalev from Pittsburgh. Kovalev has five goals since the trade.

The Rangers returned from a six-game road trip and posted a 4-1 win over Boston on Thursday Ronald Petrovicky and captain Mark Messier scored shorthanded goals.

Florida has dropped its last two games following a four-game unbeaten streak. The Panthers have managed just one goal in both games and had a five-game road unbeaten streak snapped with a 3-1 setback at Tampa Bay on Thursday.

Viktor Kozlov had a seven-game points streak stopped and Olli Jokinen failed to register a point for the second consecutive game following a nine-game points streak.

New York has won both meetings from the Panthers this season.
