Friesen ran his points streak to eight games and Patrik Elias ended an eight-game pointless streak by assisting on Madden’s tally.

Washington is 1-1-0-1 vs. the the Devils this season. In New Jersey’s 4-1 win at Washington on February 5, Madden scored three straight goals for his first hat trick in more than two years.
