TAMPA, FLORIDA (TICKER) —The Tampa Bay Lightning will try to extend their five-game unbeaten streak on Sunday when they play host to the Buffalo Sabres at the St. Pete Times Forum.

The Lightning have climed into seventh place in the Eastern Conference, one point below the New York Islanders and one point above the Boston Bruins.

Tampa Bay skated to a 2-2 tie at Atlanta on Friday and is opening a three-game homestand. The Lightning, who are 3-0-1 in their last four matches, will also host the contending Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the surging Florida Panthers before hitting the road again.

Buffalo has the fewest wins and has scored the fewest goals of any team in the league. The Sabres were 4-1 losers to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday and have won just twice in nine games this month.

The Sabres and Lightning are meetings for the second time this season. On November 27 in Buffalo, Fredrik Modin scored 4:37 into the third period to lift the Lightning into a 1-1 tie.
