PITTSBURGH (TICKER) —Two teams that have played poorly of late meet at Mellon Arena on Thursday when the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Florida Panthers.
Pittsburgh has lost three straight games and is just 1-5-1 in its last seven contests.
On Tuesday, the Penguins lost to Vancouver, 3-2. Alexei Kovalev, who has been the subject of trade rumors, scored both goals for Pittsburgh.
Florida also has gone just 1-5-1 in its last seven games. On Wednesday, the Panthers were embarrassed at home by Toronto, 6-0.
Roberto Luongo was pulled just 1:46 into the second period after allowing a third goal. Jani Hurme finished the contest and gave up another three goals on 11 shots. Florida went 0-of-4 on the power play.
The Panthers defeated the Penguins twice in Florida, 4-3 in overtime on November 6 and, 3-0, on January 18.
