Making his first NHL start since December 21, DiPietro - the top overall pick in the 2000 draft - allowed a goal to Steve McKenna during a two-man power play in the second period and another to Randy Robitaille off a rebound in the third. He is 2-1-0 this season.
DiPietro was recalled from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League after Chris Osgood was injured last week. Osgood is expected to miss two more weeks with a sprained left ankle.

Richard Zednik scored twice and Saku Koivu collected three assists as the Canadiens cruised to a 6-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. Zednik set a career high with his 23rd goal early in the first period and completed his third multi-goal game of the season late in the second.
Koivu, who made a courageous comeback from stomach cancer last April, on Monday withdrew from Sunday’s All-Star Game and will use the time off for diagnostic testing.
The Canadiens and Islanders have split two meetings this season. In the most recent one, Dave Scatchard scored the go-ahead goal with 5:36 remaining as the Islanders rallied for three third-period tallies in a 3-1 victory here on December 23.
