LOS ANGELES (TICKER) —The New Jersey Devils hope to extend their winning streak to seven games Saturday when they meet the Los Angeles Kings for the only time this season at the Staples Center.

The Devils have gone 8-0-1 in their last nine games to move one point in front of Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic Division.

On Friday, the Devils defeated Anaheim, 3-1, to improve to 2-0-0 on their three-game road trip.

The game was tied, 1-1, before Jay Pandolfo scored a shorthanded goal 8:37 into the third period. Jamie Langenbrunner added an empty-net tally with three seconds remaining.

Los Angeles has gone in the opposite direction, going 3-12-0-1 since a victory over Anaheim on December 19.

The Kings, who are 0-3-0-1 in their last four contests, suffered a 2-1 setback to Minnesota on Thursday. Ziggy Palffy scored the Kings’ only goal with just 24 seconds remaining.

Los Angeles won the only meeting between the teams last season.
