The Washington Capitals are one of the NHL's biggest disappoints this season, having gone from a preseason Stanley Cup champion pick to a team sitting two points out of the playoffs and 3-6-1 in their last 10 games. To snap out of their funk, it's going to take hustle, aggressive play and a little bit of luck. Forward Mathieu Perreault personified all of that in scoring a third-period goal during Washington's 5-2 loss at the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night — along with displaying a tongue for the net. Perreault's incidental head-butt sent the puck past goalie Craig Anderson. After the game, he explained to the Washington Times how he could literally taste this goal: "My tongue was out, so it bounced off my tongue and in the net," Perreault said. "These things happen when you go to the net. Not the way you want to get goals, but he hit me in the face and it went in." With that, Perreault joins such luminaries as Brendan Morrow and Ian White as players who used their faces to help score goals. (Of course, in White's case, it was to help an opponent score a goal. Ouch.) But scoring a goal using one's tongue? That might be an NHL first. The closest we've come to it recently was Kris Draper scoring with his teeth. In the end, this is a great way to try and lick the competition. The type of play that leaves goal-scorers salivating. OK, we'll stop. Follow Greg Wyshynski on Twitter at @wyshynski.
No. 1 Star: Milan Michalek, Ottawa Senators The Senators forward scored two goals and assisted on Erik Karlsson's first-period tally, leading Ottawa to a 5-2 rout of the Washington Capitals. He also abused Dennis Wideman before engaging in a quirky goal celebration on the suggestion of his Czech friend. No. 2 Star: Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins Marchand scored twice in the Bruins' 4-2 win at the St. Louis Blues, and both goals naturally had some agitation at their core. His first tally was unassisted at 2:29 of the first period, after forcing a Kevin Shattenkirk turnover; his second was off another Blues turnover, as Tyler Seguin found Marchand open for a breakaway. No. 3 Star: Paul Stastny, Colorado Avalanche Stastny scored two goals, including a confidence sapping unassisted score off a Kyle Clifford turnover in the first period, to help the Avs to a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Stastny closed out the Colorado scoring in the second period on a scramble in front, leading to the awkward Hockey Hug you see above. He was also 9-2 in the faceoff circle.
Milan Michalek had two goals and an assist in the Ottawa Senators' 5-2 humbling of the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. His first goal at 14:13 of the first period was sick: a rink-length stretch pass from Erik Karlsson, the use of Dennis Wideman as a croquet wicket, the finish past Tomas Vokoun … and then a rather odd celebration: For the video impaired, Michalek took off his glove, put a finger in the air and spun it around several times as he skated along the boards. So what was it? An impression of Wideman haplessly attempting to defend the play? The Michalekian version of the Jagr Salute? A tribute to RATT's seminal classic "Round and Round?" None of the above. Via Erin Nicks of NHL.com, Michalek said: "My buddy from back home in Czech came and he said if I scored I had to do that." Michalek has 27 goals with no sign of letting up. Our advice to his friend: See how far you can push this "if you score, you must do" thing. For example, we've yet to see a player use his own skate to shave his head after a goal …
i blame this loss on Emilio
Ducks, Ducks, Lose!
did anyone else notice that teemu got slapped with a game misconduct there at the end? what a way to go out, capping your career with that kind of play. classy.

They are clearly leaking Bettman's lower body part as a primary job. Not seeing high sticking on Teemu or setting PK on Koivu at the critical last minutes come only directly from Buttman.
Can we, fans, change NHL top brass and bring some justice? Not really.
this series is over? Did anyone watch it?
mightymouse and buddy your team sucks-ducks
Where are all the Pred haters now? I hope the Preds and Wings get to go at it in the next round, and that the winner of that one will eventually hoist the cup.
you guys are great very proud of you.i have a tatoo of your logo on my arm and titans on my other and i still live in connecticut, whats wrong please help me to relocate, thanks roy
Congrats Preds. Way to take out the trash.
Congratulations Preds....Blackhawks fan.
Time for nashville to do some wing clipping
Where is my little HO : PUTRID DANIEL ? aka " Mola ram " aka "lol are you mad " "freaky frink "....she now had to change accounts because she pissed one poster once too many times !!! HAHAHA.....what goes around comes around.
I also hear your Rainbow Coalition membership card has been revoked !!!!!......I also see , the word is out that , that your Plastic persona has been exposed. YOU will ALWAYS be remembered as the little La Habra / O.C. HO !!
Your "hockey knowledge " has NEVER been your strong suit and will not be missed.Good luck learning how to ice skate at Anahiem Ice, you have all summer to practice with the children , and other transgender of your kind.
I picked the Preds to surprisingly knock off the Ducks in 7 game's. And BOY, I was so right the surprising win. I had another colleague as well as my boss told me that I was kidding. I said, "Guy's, watch the Preds, they are team that's building!" And sure enough, they are. Legwand, Tootoo, Sullivan, Rinne, Hornqvist, Sergei Kostitsyn, etc. are no laugher's! This team will be something come a year or two from now.
Dicks. You can watch the game again on prime ticket. LOL!
Bring on the Kitty Kitties. Go Wings
2 wins? That's all you Orange County sewer rats could muster was 2 stinking wins? You're the laughing stock of the NHL. You're the 4th best team in CA . . . and there are only 3 teams. Do everyone a favor and move to Winnipeg so they'll stop whining and you can stop polluting the air.
Sound familiar Duck fans? That's that kinda crap you were spewing last year when Vancouver knocked off the Kings in t he first round.
Later losers.
Ducks looked super sloppy and out of shape :p...Nice job predators but be warned that if u play sloppy like last game then its all gonna blow up...but good luck to yah
Eulogy of Anaheim Ducks: Here lies 2010-2011 season of the Anaheim Ducks. With the High scoring of Corey Perry and Great Comeback of Teemu Selanne, they all still fell a bit short. They were on the brink of not making the playoffs with the losing streaks they had and the tough competition between the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars, but ended away making it. Goalie problems were the main key and were very inconsistent. Jonas Hiller suffering with dizziness hurt them the most even with Emery doing a great job at substituting and Dan Ellis with his...inconsistency of playing good. Not only will this be a Eulogy of the Ducks but possibly a Eulogy for the career of Selanne. Will he return to hockey for another year? I don't know but we shouldn't get our hopes up for it. If he does let's see what he can do next year if not then here lies Teemu's career.
Congrats Preds. A classy team to say the least.
Hopefully we can find your passion next year!
This was nice to watch...after getzlaf covered the puck during that last game
against Calgary and all the calls they got THEIR way...it was a pleasure watching
the Ducks' sloooow death. Muahahaha :)
Kudos to Nashville. I am a Ducks fan but I feel we were outcoached in the last two games. Why do you take out your most explosive line (line 2) in game 5 when the Preds a gassed after two icing calls in a row in overtime. That lead sto an overtime goal because the number 1 line hold the zome.
Game 5 too much first and second line not enough third and fourth. No wonder they looked tired.
Congrats to Nashvile, who completely outplayed Ducks, not by a skill level, but by a desire to win.
Ducks were pathetic these series, starting from Getz - shame captain for the team.
Carlyle did his stupid line shifting again and again. It's time for the onwers to change the GM, the poor coach and a few lazy players.
In fareness to Ducks, officiating was really one-sided for majority of the games.

Anyway, still - Nashville - well deserved the win and Ducks did not.
Ducks let us all, South Cal fans, down by playing lazy and disorganized.
Teemu, please stay for one more year!!
Great series. It would have been even better with Hiller and Visnovsky both healthy.
Congrats Preds fans from a longtime Wings fans. I have been to your building and enjoyed the passion. Now I hope Chicago can beat Vancouver and we can play you next round. It would be a great series.
This was without a doubt the best opening series of them all I've seen this year. Detroit/Phoenix was, I thought, going to be the series most likely to go 7.
Yotes got bounced in 4.
Hell even game 1, pretty much the closest thing to a blowout of this series, I never thought the Daffy Ducks were completely out of it.
Daffy Ducks trolls, enjoy your Angels.
