    It took most of his first season in Boston, but Riley Nash is hitting his groove with the Bruins at exactly the right time. Nash came up huge in a must-win game Saturday night against the Islanders, scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over the Isle. The unheralded Nash and equally unheralded backup goalie Anton Khudobin were the two most important performers in the tight, playoff-style win that snapped a four game losing streak while pushing the B's back into playoff position.

    The Islanders' 3-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on Monday night may be a blow too big to overcome in their late push to the playoffs. The Isles came out flat, being outshot 22-to-15 through two periods, and fell behind into a 2-0 hole. Josh Bailey's second period goal got them closer, but Ryan Johansen scored into an empty net with 21 seconds left to seal the victory for Nashville. "We've been a little too late to the party on a consistent basis," Doug Weight said of the team's sluggish starts of late. "It didn't bite us against the Rangers, but it did the last couple games."     It wasn’t a good performance from Corey Crawford in Saturday’s 7-0 loss in Florida — the Chicago starter was hooked after allowing four goals on 25 shots. Of course, it wasn’t a good night for the guy that replaced Crawford, either. Scott Darling was torched for three goals on six shots against the Panthers, but now gets the first crack at redemption — Darling will start tonight when Chicago gets back into action in Tampa Bay. The Lightning are hopeful they’ll have as much success against Darling — and maybe even Crawford — as the Panthers did on the weekend.
