G Rick DiPietro, who didn't play after Jan. 5 last season due to lingering effects from multiple surgeries on his right knee, has resumed skating but isn't expected back until mid-November. |

There is a chance DiPietro (knee) will be able to return around Thanksgiving, according to the Islanders' web site. Recommendation: The team will hopefully have a surer sense as time goes on, but this is the first hint of a timetable for DiPietro. We'll be on the lookout for increased participation in practice over the next few weeks. |
