Washington Capitals at Detroit Red Wings, March 19, 2012: Fan Preview

It is a scary time for the Detroit Red Wings. The St. Louis Blues have already hit 100 points on the season and have earned themselves a playoff spot. Then as Pavel Datsyuk slowly makes his way back on the ice, the Red Wings lose more key players to injury. Pair all of that with the season quickly winding down and a four-game losing streak, and this fan is quickly worrying about how realistic a Stanley Cup is given the team's current situation.

On a positive note, the Red Wings return home to face the Washington Capitals on Monday, March 19. With a 28-4-2 record on their home ice, it is easy to feel the confidence in the team rush back in. There is little doubt they will make the playoffs barring any major tragedy, however, losing any sort of home ice advantage will be extraordinarily detrimental to their hopes for a championship.

It is do or die time for Detroit. Every game counts.
