Report: G Sabourin inks deal with Penguins
TORONTO (TICKER) —Dany Sabourin apparently is returning to the Steel City.
According to a report by TSN of Canada on Sunday night, Sabourin signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins worth $1.025 million.
A fourth-round pick of Calgary in 1998, Sabourin signed with Pittsburgh in August 2005 and appeared in one game with the Penguins the following season.
But the 26-year-old goaltender was claimed off waivers in October by Vancouver, where he spent the majority of 2006-07 on the bench as the backup to Vezina Trophy runner-up Roberto Luongo, going 2-4-1 with a 2.63 goals-against average in just nine contests.
Sabourin has played in 14 career games with the Flames, Penguins and Canucks, going 2-8-1 with a 3.14 GAA and .885 save percentage.
