Panthers, Rochester form affiliation

SUNRISE, FLORIDA (TICKER) —The Florida Panthers on Thursday announced a full American Hockey League affiliation with the Rochester Americans.

For the past three seasons, the Panthers and Buffalo Sabres shared an affiliation with Rochester. Florida will supply the Americans with a full roster of players for the 2008-09 season.

Established in 1956, the Americans are the second-longest running franchise in the AHL, having won six Calder Cups as league champions.

Hall of Famer Al Arbour, Hockey Night in Canada’s Don Cherry, current Calgary Flames mentor Mike Keenan and Mike Milbury are among the players and coaches who have had stops in Rochester.
