Kings recall RW Purcell

LOS ANGELES (TICKER) —The Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday recalled right wing Teddy Purcell from Manchester of the American Hockey League.

Signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maine in April 2007, the 23-year-old Purcell currently leads the Monarchs with nine goals and 10 assists in 23 games this season.

A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, the 6-3, 202-pound Purcell made his NHL debut with the Kings last season, registering one goal and two assists in 10 contests.

Purcell was the Hockey East Rookie of the Year in 2006-07, when he notched 16 goals and 43 points in 40 games with the Black Bears.
