Sharks Team Report
INSIDE SHOTS
Dany Heatley(notes) didn’t score against his former team Tuesday night, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying. The talented forward who came to San Jose via a blockbuster late offseason trade put a season-high eight shots on goal against the Senators but couldn’t find the back of the net.
“I felt good tonight. Our line was really skating, creating a lot of chances and Patty (Marleau) had two big goals for us,” Heatley said. “I only talked to a couple of guys during the TV timeouts, but mostly it was just focusing on the game.”
Heatley left Ottawa on bad terms, having first requested a trade that went public, then rejecting a deal that would have sent him to Edmonton before finally agreeing on a trade to the Sharks. He has faced a lot of scrutiny from the Canadian-based media since the end of last season, and he was met by a number of north-of-the-border outlets on Tuesday.
“I thought he handled it just the way we knew he would,” coach Todd McLellan said. “He was very mature. He faced everybody he needed to face. And then he went out and let his play do the rest of the talking.
“I thought he was very good tonight. He put himself in situations to score a lot of goals, had a number of shooting opportunities and again he worked hard on both sides of the puck for us.”
Heatley finished the night with two assists and watched Marleau pass him for the team goal-scoring lead (19-18).
“It was an interesting week, a couple games that were good to get them over with,” said Heatley, who played in a hostile Edmonton arena last week. “It’s good to be back here and get on with things.”
Sharks 5, Senators 2: Patrick Marleau(notes) scored two goals and the Sharks opened an extended stretch of home games with a victory over the Senators, who featured the return of ex-Sharks Milan Michalek(notes) and Jonathan Cheechoo(notes).
Jamie McGinn(notes), Ryane Clowe(notes) and Manny Malhotra(notes) also scored while NHL assist-leader Joe Thornton(notes) added two more to his total and backup goalie Thomas Greiss(notes) made 25 stops to lead the hosts. Michalek scored both of Ottawa’s goals.
NOTES, QUOTES
• C Joe Thornton was named the league’s No. 2 star for the month of November, finishing behind Calgary’s Jarome Iginla(notes) and ahead of Marian Gaborik(notes) of the N.Y. Rangers. Thornton accumulated 20 points in November, including a league-leading 16 assists, as the Sharks posted a 9-2-3 record and ended the month first in the NHL overall standings. Thornton concluded the month with an active eight-game point streak (three goals, 15 points) and has tallied points in each of his past 14 road games (six goals, 21 points).
• The Sharks are 4-0 against the Senators since a 4-1 road loss on Oct. 18, 2003.
• D Douglas Murray’s(notes) grandfather, legendary Swedish defenseman Lars Bjorn, was at HP Pavilion on Tuesday night, watching his grandson play in the NHL for the first time. Bjorn, who played on Sweden’s national teams in the 1950s and 1960s, is 77 and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation’s Hall of Fame.
Quote To Note: “I don’t know how many shots he had; he’s just one of the best players in the world. We’re just glad he’s on our side now.”—C Joe Thornton on Dany Heatley, who logged a season-high eight shots on net Tuesday.

I am not a sharks fan, but I do hope you guys win for my fantasy team's sake ;). That being said, I had a good laugh at the leafs fan who pulled out financial worth as bragging rights for his team. So you mean to tell me that you're proud of the fact that the worst team in the NHL (Toronto) makes the most money? Lol. You know that that tells me...? It tells me Leafs fans are not the smartest bunch, doling out their cash for a management that doesn't care about the quality of the product they put on the ice BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO CARE ;). There is no accountability in Toronto. I'm Canadian and it amazes me how clueless Toronto Fans are. The Leafs suck (and have for over 40 years), the Raptors suck, the Argonauts suck, and the Toronto FC (soccer) are horrible.
It pisses me off incredibly that Hockey Night in Canada has a Leafs game on nearly every Saturday. Watching the Leafs almost makes my eyes bleed. I'd rather watch Curling...CURLING for the love of god, than watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play hockey. I would rather have rectal exams every saturday. Actually, scratch that, that would mean I would have something in common with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I'm sure they have to get their rectum checked after every game.

Forbes report. Wow. So financial worth that means BS to me, and most backs up YOUR OPINION that the sharks are a pathetic expansion team. Ok, makes no sense.
I live in San Jose and have been a fan since day 1, so I have real world experience of the franchise and fans. Do you? I doubt it.
And the cubs have history, but having history doesn't excuse not winning a title for that many years.
It won't really matter, as the sharks will win two before the leaf's win another.
Do you believe what Glenn Beck squirts as well?

Is this the report to which you refer?
"30. Toronto Maple Leafs (3-11-6, Previous: 30) – It’s not pretty in Maple Leaf country, where Toronto is almost certain to miss the postseason for a franchise-high fifth straight year. They have to eclipse 50 points this season … don’t they?"
Have a nice day.

“We’ve been very average. We finished the road trip with a key win in Philadelphia. But can I say we’ve been real good? No. We haven’t been real bad, either. We’ve been in between, and we need to get better.”—D Rob Blake
is some major captaining. Bravo Rob Blake. This is what the team has been missing. Playoff failures solved!
Let's not forget to give all the credit to coach for Marleau's turnaround...oh wait...Marleau was awesome last year and seems to just get better and better and is still the only leader I see on this team. Joke Thornton should turn his A in.

Again, I am correct, Patty did all he is all about!!!!!!! Sharks is luckt or smart about not trading him off. We need him! Patty is one of best hockey players.....Heatly started to show that he is fitting in....Where is Joe??? I saw how he played last Thursday...But where was he yesterday?

Come on thats absurd for a elite goaltender....That should NEVER happen, no matter what defensemen doing or whatever excuses are....If Nabby is elite goaltender, then it should be 1 or 2 goals out of 50 shots!!!!!!!! I think Greise did well, given the fact that he hasnt played a real game for ages....He needs more ice time...
We should look for a real elite goaltender or we will collapse again at playoffs....AGAIN!!!!
GOOOOOOO PATTY!!!!!!

Come on, we know, Joe is dummier than that wooden peg sitting on his lap......He's a whiner, and if he doesn't have anyone good on his line, would he produce?????? LOOK at Marleau, he played on many different lines, even switched positions....and did well...NEVER whine...He is a truly player, PERIOD...NO TRADE!
Go ahead trade Joe and Nabby get someone who will give 110% always....I know Sharks will choke this playoffs again if we still use Nabby as no 1 goalie.
