Wild Team Report
INSIDE SHOTS
From a coach’s point of view, it’s not an ideal approach. Still, Wild coach Todd Richards can’t argue with the results. His team is demonstrating an increasing flair for the dramatic, using its growing confidence to post come-from-behind victories as it continues to find its stride.
The Wild’s 5-4 shootout victory over Anaheim on Friday was simply the latest. In eight of its 12 wins, the Wild has fallen behind. In three of those, it has rallied from at least two goals down. Though the Wild has surrendered the first goal in seven of its past eight games, its players now have the belief that nothing is lost until the game is over.
“When we were 3-8 or 3-9, there wasn’t a lot of confidence in the room,” Richards said. “You could feel it; it was like a dark cloud. They were waiting for something bad to happen. (Friday), the guys on the bench were very positive, saying there was lots of time left and they were going to come back. The players believe they can score goals now.”
Mikko Koivu’s(notes) line has fostered much of that. Friday, Koivu and linemates Antti Miettinen(notes) and Andrew Brunette(notes) combined for four goals, five assists and 16 shots in a dominant performance. Miettinen also was among the players chattering on the bench.
“You’ve got to stay with it for 60 minutes,” he said. “In the past, maybe we got down a little bit. You’ve just got to stay with it for the full game.”
Wild 5, Ducks 4 (SO): Twice, the Wild fell behind by two goals. Twice, it rallied, earning its first four-game winning streak of the season. After spotting Anaheim a 2-0 lead, the Wild tied the score early in the third with a pair of goals by linemates Mikko Koivu and Antti Miettinen. The Ducks promptly made it 4-3, only to have the same two Wild players score again to push the game to overtime.
Miettinen’s power-play goal with 1:41 remaining in regulation allowed the Wild to earn points for the sixth consecutive game. The Wild begins an eight-day, five-game road trip with a record of 5-0-1 in its past six.
NOTES, QUOTES
• The Wild has won its past four games, marking the first time it has done so under first-year coach Todd Richards. The team had not won four in a row since October 2008.
• After beginning the season with eight consecutive road losses, the Wild is 3-1-2 in its past six away from home. It begins an eight-day, five-game road trip Saturday, its second-longest of the season. The team went 0-5 on an 11-day trip in October.
Quote To Note: “It was by far the best I’ve seen Mikko play. He was a dominant, dominant player (Friday night).”—Wild coach Todd Richards on center Mikko Koivu, who led the Wild’s shootout victory over Anaheim with two goals, an assist and nine shots in 21 minutes, 58 seconds of ice time.

Bouchard will be an excellent play maker once he returns from his injury.

If you've paid attention AT ALL the last few years you'd realize that we have gone from a defensive minded team, to focusing more on scoring, and that's not easy to do after 9 years.
But hey, since you obviously aren't real Wild fans (or know anything about hockey), then do what everyone else does in your position. Buy a red wings jersey and try to convince people that you not just jumping on their bandwagon. Cuz we sure as hell don't want you on ours.

Seriously, who did you want as GM!? How many qualified GM's do you think are out there? CL did a great thing by bringing in Fletcher! Short of trying to get Jim Nill from the Red Wings, who openly stated he didn't want to leave Michigan because he has kids in school and doesn't want to uproot his family. Fletcher was by far the most qualified choice to usher in a new era of hockey into Minnesota.
You should be counting your lucky stars that CL had enough forsight to bring in a guy thats young, qualified, talented and most importantly knows what makes an exciting hockey team. I don't know if you listened to his press conference but his plans are phenomenal. What more could you ask for!? The Wild brought in a guy that has the right idea on how to handle every situation. Scouting & drafting, creating an explosive offense without jeopardizing our defense, he even had a great reply about Gabby. H has a great plan & he will make the Wild a strong, strong team, and more importantly, an exciting team to watch. Maybe you guys loved watching low scoring games, and watching the Wild play a dump & chase style game that didn't work against teams in the play-offs. Maybe you loved DR's "hope for the best" approach with signing contracts & drafting decisions. Maybe you're impressed with the lackluster farm system DR created and the fact that we have one of the weakest lists of prospects in the NHL. Hell maybe you guys even loved hearing from DR that we had too high of expectations as fans instead of him apologizing for for all his mistakes he made. Well I expect Minnesota to be a consistent powerhouse in the NHL for years to come & thats the kind of GM that we have now.
If you can't see that the Wild were in a downward tailspin you have blinders on. Be thankful that we have an owner that gave ful control & a wide open check book to a brilliant hockey mind who has great intentions for our team. It may take 1 to 3 years to get where we need to be, but mark my words, CL made a great decision in choosing Fletcher, and you will see some great moves out of the WIld in the near future.

Watch the Team of 18,568 dwindle to less than a sell-out next season. Those fans in the Warming House (waiting list) will take a pass or decline the opportunity to buy season tickets.
A call from the WILD in the last two days to those of us remaining ticket holders indicates a true panic is blooming at the X.
The twin Cities has already gone down this route with the wedding initiation printing genius from Mankato and his hapless Timberwolves organization. The parallels with the WILD are strikingly similar.
Be prepared to hear about the WILD moving to Milwaukee in the next few years as Leipold screws this team into the ground more so than he did the Nashville Predators. If his partner the hedge fund crook is watching, take the team over now. At least we’d see some great ponzi hockey … ha!
