Ducks LW May suspended three games

TORONTO (TICKER) —The Minnesota Wild will not see Brad May again until next season, regardless of the outcome of their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Anaheim Ducks.

One day after striking Minnesota defenseman Kim Johnsson in Game Four, May was suspended three games by the National Hockey League on Wednesday, ending his participation in the series.

As the Wild avoided a four-game sweep by scoring three goals in the third period, May punched an unsuspecting Johnsson during a scrum with 1:48 to go in the session, earning himself a match penalty and game misconduct.

The 35-year-old May will begin his suspension Thursday, when Anaheim - which leads the series three games to one - hosts Gave Five. The ban will carry over to the conference semifinals if necessary.
