Osgood, Red Wings stifle Flames
The Detroit Red Wings handed the Calgary Flames their second straight loss Saturday night with a 3-1 victory at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
Wings netminder Chris Osgood(notes) turned aside 22 shots and Brad Stuart(notes) and Tomas Holmstrom(notes) scored second-period goals to finish the team’s five-game road trip on a winning note.
Kirk Maltby(notes) added an empty-netter with 45 seconds remaining in the game.
Daymond Langkow(notes) scored Calgary’s only marker while Miikka Kiprusoff(notes) made 27 saves in a losing cause.
