Sabres recall D Chad Ruhwedel from AHL Rochester

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—The Buffalo Sabres have recalled defenseman Chad Ruhwedel from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

The move on Saturday was made after defenseman Alexander Sulzer sustained a lower-body injury in Friday’s 2-0 loss at Florida.

Ruhwedel, 23, has played in seven games for the Sabres this season. He hasn’t recorded a point but has a team-best plus-3 rating.

The Sabres signed Ruhwedel out of UMass-Lowell in April 2013.
