Avs confirm backup goalie Budaj has swine flu

DENVER (AP)—The Colorado Avalanche confirm that backup goalie Peter Budaj(notes) has the swine flu.

Budaj didn’t accompany the Avalanche on their four-game road trip that begins Tuesday night in Edmonton. There’s a chance Budaj could rejoin the team later in the trip if he’s cleared by team doctors.

The team said no other players have come down with the virus.

Budaj was scheduled to start his first game of the season last Friday against Carolina, but was scratched due to flu-like symptoms.

Colorado recently brought up goalie Tyler Weiman(notes) from the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL to serve as Craig Anderson’s(notes) backup.

    Pretty much every time I read these posts, I wish a real super flu would arise. The stupidity that is most of these posts should really just die already.

    Post #5..... I don't believe a thing the CDC says. The only reason Osama declared H1N1 a national emergency was to draw criticism off his worthless health care bill. The vaccine hasn't even been proven. I hope that in 5 years from now that people aren't experiencing side effects from this emergency rush-vaccine. There is no way my family or I will get anything genrated by the Osama government. Wh y was this such a bad thing last spring......and then it died off? Why didn't the CDC start vaccinating people this summer????? This is just a diversion tactic for Osama's liberal socialist government. Oh yeah,,,,,,,GO AVS, GO NUGGETS, GO BRONCOS BEAT THE BALTIMORE CROWS this weekend.

    You don't get swine flu from pork, it's a influenza virus. Anyone can get, nobody's god can stop it.

    Eventually almost everyone will get it. The CDC estimate 1 million people have already gotten it so far, just reacts differently in different people.
