Over the next three months, the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers will enter the uncensored fishbowl known as "HBO 24/7: Road To The NHL Winter Classic", whose second season premieres on Dec. 14.
Last season, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals were featured in a series that gave us great drama, grotesque injuries and more creative uses for profanity than you'll find in all of Tarantino's screenplays combined.
If anyone could tell the Rangers and Flyers what they're in for, it's those guys, so we asked Capitals players and management what the new cable stars should expect — and whether, in the end, Capitals Coach Bruce "Get Your Asses Out Of Your Heads" Boudreau or the caustic Rangers Coach John Tortorella would have the higher tally of profanities. (Yes, we even asked Boudreau.)
Featured in this PD Mini-Doc: Boudreau; GM George McPhee; forwards Brooks Laich(notes) and Mike Knuble(notes); and defenseman Karl Alzner(notes). We especially liked Knuble's sad-puppy lament about being left on the cutting room floor, like he sat down for Episode 1 with a giant bowl of Redenbacher and discovered he was in "24/7" about as long as Tim Robbins was in "Anchorman."
