What the hell is growing on Jagr's face?

We all know what the typical playoff beard looks like. Depending on the ability to grow one and the age of a player, the beards could look salt-and-pepper scruffy like Scott Niedermayer's or babyish like Sidney Crosby's current one. A player could go all out like Mike Commodore and not shave any part of his body during a playoff run.

Then there's Jaromir Jagr.

I don't really know the reasoning behind it, except that it looks pretty ridiculous. During Jagr's days with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he was part of many deep playoff runs; but he was a baby back then and the only thing that grew on his cheeks was a blushy-red color. Instead of the playoff beard, he let the hair grow off the back of his head, not anywhere on his face.

Could it be that the Rangers captain is going for the "Fro Hawk" look on his face? I can't imagine what that thing is going to look like if the Rangers keep playing hockey for a few more weeks. It really could look like he's got a squirrel's tail hanging off his chin.

This is priceless. I noticed that thing growing a few weeks back before the playoffs even started, but it has gone from a "Soul Patch" looking deal into a full fledged face-hawk.

    @ Potato Head
There's nothing more "sports" than postseason facial hair in hockey. Nothing.

He should go all out and shave his eyebrows except for the uni-brow bridge to cover the upper-center portion of his face.

Thats just Jagr's racing stripe...You know , ya get a little older , and lose a step....One needs to do what one can to gain a little speed wherever possible... The word on the street is that that stripe gives him xtra horsepower...and his boyfriend really digs it ! ----Ouch !!! sometimes I feel a little bad for Jagr...the way the Pens fans boo every time he touches the puck...I think Pittsburgh fans are very critical of their stars, but as hockey fans, they dont come any more knowledgeable of the game--'cept maybe in Canada...The Pens fans remember....and they arent quick to forgive...So lets not dog on Jagr's facing stripe too much... he's liable to shave it off , then all I'll have to laugh at, if the Pens meet the Grangers, is him takin a big check from Jarko.... What the heck is up with that stache ? Lookin a little Hitler-ish !!

Perhaps the caterpillar will help his offensive contribution if the Penguins meet them in the playoffs, for his lack of skill will not.

Jagr was a good player and continues to be. If it not for the budget problems in Pittsburgh, we would still have him on our team. He is a bit of a cry baby, he gets injured way too often, and he (apparently) cannot grow a proper beard to save his life, but all that aside he is a good player and it was a management decision to let him go. He should not really be booed but then again Sid and Geno should not be booed when they play other teams, but it happens. Why because they are good players and the fans like to feel they are getting into the player's head. Jagr, your playing my Pens now so I hope you get swept but you should have planned this out, shaved your face, and grew a Mullet. For god sakes you play hockey, mullets are to hockey like gloves are to baseball, if you don't have one, you need one.

No one tell Jagr to grow back his mullet. Jagr apparently hasn't heard of Samson and we do not need to tell him.

I agree about the mullet. I have thought that for many years and that was the time where he played his best hockey. Also, it was not like the typical ugly looking mullet, it was a nice mane and looked good. As for this facial hair I love it. I am even growing it myself I think it looks good and gives him a cooler personality than before. He is a real cool dude and my favorite player and ZEEE best ever to play. People get on him when he doesnt play well and say he doesnt try. Every player struggles, no matter how great he is. He has it all.
