No. 1 Star: Ondrej Pavelec(notes), Atlanta Thrashers

Pavelec, as his agent Allan Walsh would say, was "Pavelectric" against the Washington Capitals with a 36-save performance in a 1-0 victory. The win was Pavelec's second in eight starts and good enough for his third shutout of the season. Nik Antropov(notes) scored his ninth of the year midway through the second period for the only goal of the contest.

No. 2 Star: Eric Staal(notes), Carolina Hurricanes

In the final game before the All-Star break and he assumes captain duties for Team Staal, the Hurricanes captain scored twice in a 1:28 span and added an assist for a three-point night in a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders. Staal heads into the break with 16 points in his last 14 games and has tallied 52 on the season. Fellow All-Star Cam Ward(notes) made 23 saves as Carolina won for the third time in four games.

No. 3 Star: Tim Thomas(notes), Boston Bruins

Thomas continues to prove his case for a second Vezina Trophy and his 34 saves against Florida on Wednesday were just enough as the Bruins slipped past the Panthers 2-1. Brad Marchand(notes) scored his 13th goal -- his seventh in his last 10 games -- and Milan Lucic(notes) added his 20th to send Florida to their fifth loss in six games. Thomas leads all goaltender in goals-against average (1.81), save-percentage (.945), shutouts (7, tied with Henrik Lundqvist(notes)), and is tied for second in wins with 24.

Honorable mention: Islanders rookie Michael Grabner(notes) recorded two points giving him nine in his past eight games ... Jimmy Howard(notes) made 23 saves for his 24th win in a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils. Darren Helm(notes) notched his sixth of the season to give him 12 points in 13 games ... Eric Belanger(notes) scored twice and Ilya Bryzgalov(notes) made 29 saves as the Phoenix Coyotes extended their road win streak to five games with a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. All-Star Keith Yandle(notes) extended his point streak to nine game with a goal and an assist. Avs All-Star Matt Duchene(notes) scored his 20th of the game, which was also his 100th career NHL point ... Brendan Morrow's two goals early in the second period boosted the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Kari Lehtonen(notes) stopped 34 shots as the Stars won for the first time after back-to-back games where they allowed 14 goals. During the game, tempers flared during the second period that saw 54 penalty minutes handed out in the final seven minutes during which, Krys Barch(notes) and Zach Stortini threw down in an entertaining bout:

Lee Sweatt's(notes) first NHL goal in his first game was also the winning tally for the Vancouver Canucks in their 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators. Alex Burrows scored his 11th two minute before Sweatt's goal to tie the game at one. Roberto Luongo(notes) made 26 saves, including this game-saving toe save on Joel Ward(notes) with under 30 seconds to go:

David Moss'(notes) two goals and Miikka Kiprusoff's(notes) 28 saves led Calgary to a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. Kipper moved past Ken Dryden on the NHL's all-time wins list with his 259th victory. The Flames scored on two of their three power plays to improve to 10-3-3 over their last 16 games. Blues rookie Philip McRae(notes) scored his first NHL goal in the loss ... Jarret Stoll(notes) scored the only goal in the fourth round of the shootout and Jonathan Quick(notes) denied Ryane Clowe(notes) as the Los Angeles Kings got by the San Jose Sharks 3-2 for their third win in a row. With the win, the Kings also improved to 5-0 in the shootout this season.

Did you know? Washington has been shutout seven times this season. (AP)

Dishonorable mention: Dustin Byfuglien(notes) has now gone 10 games without a point ... Erik Johnson's(notes) unfortunate own goal gave Calgary an early 1-0 lead ... Finally, via Puck Buddy Leif, referee Chris Rooney did his best impersonation of the squeaky-voiced teenager from The Simpsons while announcing a penalty tonight:
