The Ducks star posted a hat trick and an assist in Anaheim's 7-4 rout of the St. Louis Blues. He opened the scoring on the power play in the first and then added a second goal late in the period. Thirty seconds into the third period, he completed the hat trick before many fans were back in their seats following intermission. He then assisted on Corey Perry's(notes) 22nd of the season later in a wild third period (more on that in a bit).
The rookie made 24 saves, got the bounces and quality help in front of him as the Blackhawks blanked the Colorado Avalanche, 4-0, to avoid a season sweep. Dave Bolland(notes) had a goal and as assist. Brent Seabrook(notes) had two helpers in the win; both he and Duncan Keith(notes) were a plus-4.
"He makes so many saves look easy and they're not," said Coach Guy Boucher of Roloson, who shut out the Washington Capitals for the second time in two weeks in a 3-0 Tampa win. Roloson stopped 23 shots and even picked up an assist on Dominic Moore's(notes) goal 3:58 into the game. Simon Gagne(notes) capped the scoring with his first goal in 11 games.
Honorable mention: Jordan Staal(notes) had a strong night with a goal and two assists, as the Sid-less Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Montreal Canadiens, 5-2. Staal's first of the season on the power play broke a 2-2 tie with 11 seconds to go in the second period. The Penguins scored four power-play goals against the Habs. ... For Montreal, Tomas Plekanec(notes) scored goal No. 13 and David Desharnais scored his first NHL goal. ... Stick-tap to Ryan Reaves(notes) for his first NHL goal with the Blues. ... Did you know? In the Blackhawks/Avs game, the glass above the boards was cracked with 2:07 left in the second period and the teams retreated to their locker rooms while it was being repaired. After the intermission, the teams then played the final 2:07 of the second just before beginning the third with a short break in between so the goalies could switch ends. (AP)
