Watching TSN's countdown of the most embarrassing Stanley Cup Playoff goals surrendered by hapless netminders, the New Jersey Devils fan in me was anticipating the inevitable: Martin Brodeur(notes) in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Anaheim Ducks in 2003, dropping his stick and then feebly attempting to stop a puck that deflected off his lumber and into the goal.

Marty's gaffe made the top three. As does the Dan Cloutier(notes) moment that validated thousands of beach ball jokes. Watch and wince at the Top 10 Worst Goals in Playoff History (That Were Caught on Film):

The list was inspired by the "rotten, smelly goal" given up by Jimmy Howard(notes) of the Detroit Red Wings in Game 3 against the San Jose Sharks this postseason. A couple of the lowlights:

Chris Osgood(notes) and Nicklas Lidstrom(notes) both appear twice on this list, which we imagine is bittersweet for Wings fans.

• The second Patrick Lalime(notes) goal surrendered to the Toronto Maple Leafs made us wonder if Joe Nieuwendyk(notes) had used some kind of miniaturization ray on the puck before shooting.

• Finally, wasn't there an international law passed at some point that any highlight of Roman Cechmanek leaving his crease had to include circus music? Because we miss it here.
